The Dover Public Library will host a special program featuring baseball legend and Tuscarawas County native Cy Young on Tuesday, July 1 at 6:30 PM. Presented by living historian Chris Hart, “An Evening With Cy Young” will be a fun and informative look at the life and legacy of baseball’s all-time career wins leader. Hart will take participants back to 1947 where Cy Young has just returned from “Cy Young Day” at Cleveland Stadium in honor of this 80th birthday. Portraying Cy, Hart will reminisce about life in major league baseball, his love of Tuscarawas County, and his many achievements on the way to becoming a Hall of Fame pitcher. For more information or to register for the free program, please call the Dover Public Library at 330-343-6123.
I was hoping to be able to reach Chris Hart. My father, Kenneth Carruthers, was a friend of Johnny Benedum and Cy Young. I was hoping to find pictures of the automobile given to Mr. Young at the stadium. I have the license plate from ’57, CY 25.
